COUSINS, NOT BROTHERS
06 Feb 1785 is Henry Back Junior's date of birth, recorded in the catechism book that served as his family’s Bible for recording births and deaths, currently in the archives of the Breathitt County Library, Jackson, Kentucky.
18 June 1785 is Aaron’s date of birth, recorded on his tombstone.
Aaron was born just a little over four months after Henry and therefore cannot share the same mother. Henry is the son of Henry Back and Elizabeth Huffman Back. Aaron is the son of John Back and Margaret Huffman Back. They were double first cousins, not brothers. Aaron is not listed with his sisters on the deed disposing of his mother’s land because he was just 17 years old at the time.
